A Prayer for Victory

Today is National Day of Prayer. I invite you to join with me in prayer for our country and for those involved in producing and publishing Christian materials.

Father God,

Creator of the universe, you establish rulers and depose thrones. We ask for your mercy, your grace, and your forgiveness. We plead that you would turn our country from its path of destruction and restore the hearts of our leaders and people to you.

We are in the midst of turmoil: economic problems, natural disasters, and personal troubles. You alone are the giver of peace and we ask that you would rain peace upon our hearts, our country, and our world.

I specifically lift up Christian publishers to you today. You know that the publishing industry is in the midst of great change. This change is both a blessing and a curse. The Internet and digital publishing have allowed your word to be made more readily available than at any other time in history. Yet, few people are truly studying and applying your word, and instead many seek teachings that tickle their ears.

Holy Father, I ask that you would strengthen Christian publishers today. Encourage those discouraged by these hard economic and changing times. Make your plans and path clear to them. Show them a glimpse of yourself so that they may be renewed in their faith and devotion to you and your word today.

Open the way for Christian publishers’ materials to reach those most desperately needing to hear your message. Help them to stand firm in these difficult days. For we know that we struggle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. May you help authors and publishers to continue to fearlessly proclaim the mystery of the gospel.

Father, you alone are able to keep us from falling and so that we may come before your glorious throne without fault and with great joy. To you we give praise and glory and honor both today and forevermore.
